Films similar to "Rendezvous"

Love Sick

"Love Sick" tells the story of a man who is unlucky in love and always seems to be the heartbroken rather than the heartbreaker. After his most recent girlfriend breaks up with him he begins on a solemn and downcast walk home until he gets to the railway station and meets "the girl of his dreams" and he begins on a chase to finding her. After an arduous and labyrinthine journey to find her he discovers she has a boyfriend. After going on a wild goose chase he sits down in the park once more dejected fearing he'll never find love, until a jogging woman runs past and he goes off chasing her. This film is similar to ours as the protagonist almost has to go on a quest to find true-love and it ends in bad news with him feeling heartbroken and dejected much like the post-it note map our character goes on only to discover the web of notes weren't for him.

Love Actually

"Love Actually" tells the story of nine intertwined stories examining the complexities of the one emotion that connects us all; love. Every character experiences love and the complexities and strife that come with love (except Rowan Atkinson's character who is instead the token, hilarious wingman in this genre). Hugh Grant loves his employee thus has to fire her but can't stand being without her and Colin Firth loves a Portuguese woman who speaks little English and his Portuguese is hopeless are just a couple of the romantic will they/won't they stories that grip the audience in this beloved rom/com. This film is similar to ours as it conveys that love isn't simple and can't be complicated where you have to work for it- much like our character's quest for that first date.

Four Weddings and a Funeral

"Four Weddings and a Funeral" tells the story of a lovable Englishman named Charles and his group of friends who seem to be unlucky in love. However when Charles meets a beautiful American named Carrie at a wedding, he thinks his luck may have changed. But, after one magical night, Carrie returns to the States, ending what might have been. As Charles and Carrie's paths continue to cross at hilarious and coincidental events such as four weddings and even a funeral he comes to believe they are meant to be together, even if their timing always seems to be off. This film is similar to ours as the main character in our film is a hopeless romantic and is also unlucky in love but when a note ends up in his back asking him on a date he believes he is finally in luck and heading for a date with his dream girl.

Unrestricted and Restricted Narration Research

Narration Narration is the act of telling a story as well as the flow of story information moment by moment over the course of a film. Unrestricted Narration (Omniscient) Unrestricted narration has no restrictions to every aspect of the film. It tells and shows the audience everything whilst the characters in the film remain oblivious to the narration. The viewer knows more than the characters. An example of an unrestricted narrative in a film is His Girl Friday by Howard Hawks (1940). The film shows different characters and scenes. The audience acquires more knowledge about the characters whilst the characters don't know much. The audience knows how Walter schemes to get Bruce in trouble but in the film Bruce is unaware of Walter's actions. Restricted Narration A restricted narration limits the amount of information that the audience receives. The audience will only receive information through the narration of a single character. This biases the audience towards on

Settings of a Romantic-Comedy | Amber Smales

Settings The location in which a Romantic-Comedy is filmed often depends who the film is aimed at. If the film is a teen rom-com then the typical locations are: High School University A party These films tend to be filmed in these specific locations as teens can often relate to the characters struggles as well as the types of characters in high schools. As this particular genre of film doesn't stray from reality the locations of teen rom-coms suit the genre. However, Romantic-Comedies that are aimed towards over 18 year old tend to be filmed in cities such as London, New York or Paris. Paris and New York are extremely common locations for rom-com films as they are seen as cities in which love blooms.
