500 Days of Summer
500 Days of Summer is a 2009 American romantic-comedy drama film directed by Marc Webb. The main characters are played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. The film has a non-linear narrative. It is based on a woman that doesn't believe love exists and a man that falls in love with her. Tom meets Summer after she becomes his boss's new assistant, he is an aspiring architect but is currently working as a greetings card writer in Los Angeles. The two become acquainted after finding out they both have similar music tastes. Over the 500 Days of Summer, Tom and Summer grow closer and form a relationship. However, on day 290 Summer breaks up with Tom as she doesn't believe the relationship is working. The two don't end up together.

After they meet again Annie admits she loves Alvy but the couple do not end up together.

The film stars Ryan Gosling as a young jazz pianist that falls in love with an aspiring actress, played by Emma Stone, whilst the pair are living in Los Angeles to pursue their dreams. The term La La Land means to not be in touch with reality as well as referring to the city they are living in, Los Angeles. The pair are drawn to each other through their common desire of doing what they love. Throughout the film the pair are faced with challenges that begin to destroy their love for each other. Ultimately the lovers don't end up together.
