PICTURE OF CLASSROOM As the classic convention of a teenage romantic comedy is located in a school or college environment, we were influenced by this also. We decided to set the majority of the scenes in the classroom, in which classmates engage and Isaac and Harriet can interact slightly. In a school/college, all of the characters are young teenage students which helps to relate to our target audience of teens. As they exit the classroom, Isaac approaches the poster promoting the Valentines Day cinema screening - which acts as a plot device. The cliche of these type of events being promoted in a college/school are common in romantic comedies - such as High School Musical etc. PICTURE OF COLLEGE "CHILLI PEP ROOM" As we were limited in terms of filming in a bedroom at an actual house, we decided to film in the "Chilli Pep Room" in our college which is usually used for casual socialization and leisure. This means the room features a sofa, bookcase and toilet -

Definition of a Short Film

Definition A short film is any motion picture that is not long enough to be classified as a feature length film. On average, a short film is usually judged and classified as a short film when the duration and running time is around 40minutes or less; including the credits. Short films are often screened at local, national, or international film festivals and produced by independent filmmakers with either a low or zero budget. It is believed that short films are generally used by filmmakers to gain experience or prove their talent in order to gain funding for future films from private investors, entertainment companies, or film studios. The Birth of Short Films Short films arguably began with the antics and stories of Charlie Chaplin as well as the black and white cartoons, each usually lasting 5 minutes and never exceeding any more than 10 minutes. Walt Disney Productions and Warner Bros Cartoons boosted short filming viewing and productions with their loveable and househo

Viral Advert Research

A viral ad is the abbreviated product of the marketing technique that uses social media to advertise its product. It is fully known as Viral Marketing/Advertising as it often goes viral, spreading across the world and is very successful. This marketing technique has often become more popular and favourable with companies as we are currently in a digital age where technology rules, ergo, advertising is more successful through social media. Viral marketing, however, doesn't just solely have to be via social media, viral marketing can advertise via word of mouth and as it gets passed on it begins to spread, this however is clearly a slower process than using social media. A huge positive for viral marketing is that, more often than not, it doesn't cost any money; this therefore means that low-budget films can exploit the use of viral marketing and higher, mainstream, conglomerate companies can additionally exploit it, focusing their costs/funding on other aspects of advertisement

Ideas for our Viral Ad

As a way to advertise our film, the method of a viral ad is usually the most common and successful as they often reach out to audiences and fans engaging their attention and equally  exciting them for our film. An idea for our viral ad is to horizontally integrate and collaborate with the company who design the style and brand of backpacks we model and use in our film. My reasoning for this is, our film is set in a college and thus contains a lot of scenes with the make of school bags, moreover, one of the key scenes involves a bag and is pivotal to the plot, the key scene has a close-up shot of the bag which presents the bag's look and design, with the make of bag having such a large screen time, the chances of audience members seeing the bag and liking its design are higher. With the image of the bags being such a prevalent aspect and role within our film, we are widely advertising the fashion label's make of bag. For the viral ad, we would advertise on social media that fo
